Day 28 (Monday, 05/07/18):ย Our builder finished getting the ground prepared to pour the concrete slab in the basement by covering the stone in the basement with a layer of plastic and then rebar to strengthen the cement and to prevent it from cracking.
We decided to separate the TV area (which will end up being a “theater” area) from the rest of the space in the basement with a wall.ย We really wanted it all open, but after seeing the space and thinking about it, we decided a wall was the better choice.ย This will really help make the house more structurally secure and prevent deflection (that sort of bouncy feeling) in the upper levels’ floors.ย You can see where this will be below (the straight area that dips down).
Day 29 (Tuesday 05/08/18): Nothing today.
Day 30 (Wednesday 05/09/18):ย CONCRETE!! They poured the basement floor!!
Day 31 (Thursday 05/10/28): Nothing today.
Day 32 (Friday 05/11/18):ย They flagged the ground where they will dig the wells.ย They will be digging geothermal and regular water wells next week.
It was pretty quiet this week, and we probably won’t see much progress for the next few weeks either.ย The next big step will be framing the basement, but our builder is waiting on the floor trusses to be fabricated.ย Once those are delivered, we should see a lot more happening!
