House Build Week 3

April 30, 2018

week three progress

I can’t believe we’re already done week three of construction.ย  I know that’s still not very far into the house building project, but I don’t think it’s fully sunk in yet that this is really happening.

Day 14 (Monday, 04/23/18):ย  They finished putting up the forms and brought in cement to pour the walls in the basement.ย  Evie loved watching all the big trucks again today.

Day 15 (Tuesday 04/24/18):ย  It rained early in the morning and was dreary the rest of the day, but the concrete company came and stripped off the forms from the walls they poured yesterday.ย  We now have legitimate walls in our basement!ย  I had an admittedly weird amount of fun walking through the door into the cold cellar that will be under our front porch eventually.ย  It’s the first time I was really “in” the house and it felt like a big moment.

Day 16 (Wednesday 04/25/18):ย  It rained a bit today, and next to nothing happened at the homestead.

Day 17 (Thursday 04/26/28):ย  The only thing they didย was sprayย a waterproofing coating onto the walls where backfill will be brought in.

Day 18 (Friday 04/27/18):ย  Very rainy this morning.ย  We had a meeting at 11:00 with our builder and the plumber to work out the plumbing plan so that they can move forward with that in the next few weeks.ย  No work on the actual house today.

With nothing happening at all over the weekend on the house, that wrapped up week number three.ย  A slow week, but progress is progress! Next week there should be some big stuff happening!

DIY Embroidered Baseball Cap Ornaments (Plus a Story About Dad)

When my father died two years ago, he left behind many things – family, friends, memories, and all his earthly possessions. A big portion of those possessions was a massive collection of baseball caps. Dad wore hats all the time. He was an avid golfer and wore them when he played (and also earned quite […]
